Meet Your Instructor:

Huong Nguyen- owner of Culinary 101. Originally born and raised in Vietnam. Chef Huong spent eight years in the Philippines and five years in Thailand, where she honed her skills in South East Asian Cuisines. Inspired by her mother who used to be the Head Chef at the Embassy. Chef Huong continued to master her expertise not only in Asian cuisines but also Italian cuisine, Pastry arts and Cake decorations.

Chef Huong has been in the culinary industry as an Instructor for 13 years.

She used to host baking and cooking classes for both children and adults in Bangkok, Thailand.

She then relocated to the United States with the family. With the love and passion for cooking and teaching, she was selected to become the culinary teacher at Mission Montessori School, San Francisco Day School and Malcom X Elementary School.

In 2021, she joined Tartine Bakery as Team Leader to spend time to learn from the experts , to explore and to master her pastry skills from scratch.

For the last five years in the Bay Area, Chef Huong has been hosting more than 400 cooking and baking classes with more than 8000 students. Chef Huong also specializes in team building cooking activity. Her private clients are: Google, Salesforce, ZillowGroup, Docusign, Instagram, Doordash, Earnst and Young Global team building event, Earnst and Young San Francisco team building twice, Sephora, Grammarly, LiveRamp, Bain & Company, Stripe Bloomberg, Athena, Okta, Benefit Cosmetics, NEMA luxury apartments, Millennium Tower, Emirates, Scale AI and more.

Chef Huong believes that home-cooked meals are always special where family members gather and share their stories and laughters. If she can spend time to prepare meals for the family, every one else can! It might be hard to cook and to bake at first, we just have to keep on practicing, experimenting and learning from mistakes.
